Collection: 1970s Vintage

The 1970s is known for it's love of anything bohemian a continuation of the 60s hippie style. With a love for handmade materials and decoration patchwork, crochet, knitting and embroidery were very popular, the iconic embroidered afghan sheepskin coat is a iconic 70s piece that is even more highly sort after now! Cool trouser suits or matching sets were a fashion statement too showing that 1970s women's fashion was much more than just boho, it was young, free, independent and exciting! One of my all time favourite decades.

Along with an emphasis on handmade details 70s designers took inspiration from the past with the prairie dress much adored and popularised by designers such as Gunne Sax & Bill Gibb. Some of the prairie dresses had a Victorian resemblance to them whilst others were more boho with floral prints and flounces. The maxi dress or skirt was also a popular style in transition from the 60s love shorter lengths.
