  • Travel Inspired Metal Wire Wall Sculpture.
    This beautiful handmade piece of minimal wire wall art is the perfect piece of art that you have been looking for. With its beautiful ergonomic flowing form, layered design and modern feel this metal wall hanging will make any room look so much cooler. This piece of art was created by myself and inspired by the journeys I took to and from my college whilst I was studying Fine Art. The drawings were created by using different types of paper and pens and by me simply letting the movement of the transport, bus, car, train, draw my journey. I then enlarged the draws using and overhead projector and traced the enlarged drawings onto paper, from this I then recreated the drawn images by bending and sculpturing the wire by hand. The buttons on the piece represent pauses in time where I was stuck in traffic, different sized buttons have been used, all in black, to represent the different lengths in paused time, the light catches the buttons beautifully. The wrapped wire sections represent short sharp movements from the jerking transport, frantic broken pauses in time.

    The art piece consists of 6 separate journeys which have been layered on top of each other to create the piece you see above. The piece represents travel, experiencing the journey as part of the destination and some might even say the creative journey from product idea through conception to end product. This art has thought and meaning behind it, apart from vintage (and my dog Olive) I love to travel and have been lucky enough to travel around the world for a year where we visited America, South America, New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Laos & Cambodia. We travelled on a shoestring budget and saw so many amazing things that we will remember for life! Whilst travelling one of the luxuries I allowed myself, apart from my straighteners (a must with my wild hair) was my sketchbook and some pens, on our mammoth overland journeys through South America, Australasia & South East Asia I drew our journeys again. The piece above is the 1st piece in the journey and where the idea all started.

  • This is a handmade piece and due to this there will be some minor variations. This piece takes a lot of time to make as it is all done by hand by myself and the buttons are threaded on the wire as they would be with cotton. If you need your order for a certain date please let me know and I will do my best to help you.
